What Happens on a Gym Tour? Do You Need Workout Clothes?

Oct 23, 2026

A gym tour is a walk around the gym and a short talk about plans. You do not need workout clothes for it. At Project Power Gym in O'Fallon, the tour is free. Someone shows you the space, answers your questions, and helps you pick a plan if you want one. Bring gym clothes only if you want to work out right after.

A new member asked us this last week. She had just signed up for our deal online and was coming in that evening. Her question was simple: "Is it just an orientation? Because I did not bring workout clothes today." It is a good question, so here is the full answer. You can see every plan and price on our memberships page.

What happens on a gym tour at Project Power Gym?

A tour at Project Power Gym is a walk through the whole gym, then a talk about which plan fits you. You do not have to lift anything or prove anything.

Here is what a tour covers:

  1. The walk-through. You see the training floor, the turf, the recovery area and the lounge.
  2. Your questions. Ask about anything: times, classes, kids, trainers, price.
  3. Picking a plan. If you want to join, we help you choose. If not, no problem.
  4. Starting your plan. If you join, we get your plan started that day.

When someone signs up for a deal online, Bart, our owner, sends a text to set up a time. In his words: "The hard part's over, so let's get you started. All that's left to do is show you around and start your deal."

Do you need workout clothes for a gym tour?

No. A tour is a walk and a talk, so the clothes you have on are fine. Nobody will ask you to work out on a tour.

If you want to train right after your tour, bring:

  • Gym clothes and shoes
  • A water bottle
  • A towel, if you plan to use the sauna or showers

Forgot a shirt? Our shop at the gym sells shirts, drinks, snacks and pre-workout. That is listed in the FAQ on our memberships page.

What will you see on the tour?

You will see every part of the gym, from the weight floor to the cold plunge. The tour is the easiest way to see it all in one trip.

What time can you take a gym tour?

Book your tour before 7:00 pm. The gym is open 24/7 for members, but tours need a staff member at the front desk. Our front desk staff usually leave at 7:00 pm, so 6:30 pm is often the latest tour time we can do.

To set up a free tour, call us at (636) 673-4768 or email info@projectpowergym.com. If you signed up for a deal online, watch for our text. Reply with a time that works for you.

What should you ask on a gym tour?

Ask about the things that will make or break your habit: time, price, and help. Good tour questions include:

  • Is it month to month, or is there a contract? (At Project Power, every plan is month to month with no fees.)
  • Can I come in early or late? (Members get 24/7 access.)
  • Are classes extra? (Classes are $15 each for everyone. Premium includes unlimited boot camps.)
  • Is there childcare, and when?
  • Do you have a discount for military, first responders or teachers? (Yes. Ask about it on your tour.)
  • Can I meet a trainer? (Personal training consults are free.)

For a longer list, read our 12 questions to ask before you join a gym.

Can you join the same day as your tour?

Yes. You can start a plan on the same day as your tour. You can also join on your own in the Project Power Gym app:

  1. Download the Project Power Gym app.
  2. Tap "Register" and sign the waiver.
  3. Go to the "Memberships" tab and pick a plan or trial.
  4. Watch for a confirmation email with next steps.

Not ready to join? Try it first. A day pass is $20. A 7-day trial is $40. Neither one renews on its own.

How often should you plan to come after you join?

Plan on 2 or more strength days a week. The CDC says adults should do muscle-strengthening activity at least 2 days a week, plus 150 minutes a week of moderate activity like brisk walking. Use your tour to pick 2 days and times you know you can keep.
